How it works.

How does the metered billing work?
You scan a QR code when you sit down — the meter starts. You scan again when you leave — it stops. Your M-Pesa wallet is charged for exactly the time you used. No rounding up. No minimums.
What if my wallet runs out mid-session?
You get a WhatsApp alert when your balance drops below 30 minutes. Top up via M-Pesa instantly — no interruption to your session. You can top up from your phone without leaving your desk.
Do I need to book in advance?
For open floor desks — no. Walk in any time, 24 hours. The Vault requires a monthly membership booked in advance. GPU rigs can be reserved ahead or taken if available.
Are token cards separate from desk billing?
Yes. Desk time and token credits are two separate wallets. Your desk meter runs on your desk balance. Your Claude and Gemini API calls run on your token balance. Top up each independently via M-Pesa.
Can I use The Yard at 3am?
Yes. The Yard is open 24 hours, every day. The same rates apply at 3am as at 3pm. There is no night surcharge. Build when inspiration strikes.
Is there a minimum top-up amount?
Minimum top-up for desk time is KSh 500 — that's 4 hours at the open desk rate. Minimum token card is KSh 500 (Starter). No maximum.
Can I use my own laptop?
Yes — and most people do. Bring your own device and connect to the Yard network. GPU rigs and AI workstations are available if you need more compute power than your machine can provide.
Do unused wallet balances expire?
Desk wallet balances do not expire for 12 months from last top-up. Token card credits do not expire for 12 months. After that, unused balances are forfeited.
